| Wireless technology is part of our daily life today, for listening to the radio,
talking on mobile phones - and using your notebook PC on the go. But are you really
satisfied with your notebook's wireless performance? Regardless of how wireless functionality
is applied, wireless signal strength and stability are decided by one key factor: antenna design. |
 |
| While Acer has provided quality wireless products for years, recent research and
innovation at Acer has unveiled the next generation in wireless performance: Acer
SignalUp technology. Incorporating the following four innovative design, Acer
SignalUp technology will transport you to a new era of reliable wireless living. |
 |
| Efficient PIFA antenna |
 |
| Acer's SignalUp technology utilizes the most efficient antenna type available in
the market - PIFA (planar inverted-F antenna). This antenna type creates an exceptionally
uniform 3D signal sphere via its inverted F-design, thus generating an omni-directional
signal field. In comparison to other popular two-dimensional antenna types, such as
IFA (inverted F-antenna) and MLA (meanderline antenna), PIFA has been verified to have
the highest antenna efficiency, stemming from its cubic structure - which enables 3D
signal generation and a surface area double that of other antennas - for enhanced
transmission and reception. PIFA is a proven, compact antenna technology currently
used in mobile phones. As with mobile phones, a notebooks wireless performance depends
largely on the antenna used. With Acer SignalUp technology, the omni-directional signal
sphere generated by PIFA ensures optimum wireless performance. |

|
| Optimized panel-top antenna position |
 |
| Based on the premise that signal reception increases the higher
the antenna is located - examples are radio and television stations - Acre has
placed two efficient PIFA antennas on top of the notebook LCD panel. The Acer
SignalUp dual-antenna panel-top design creates a perfectly shaped omni-directional
signal sphere, which ensures that your wireless connection remains strong even at
the outer limit of an access points range. Compared to other notebooks, SignalUp's
panel-top placement reduce the interference caused by a notebook's shielding,
mechanical parts, and electric and thermal noise from the main board and processor.
The panel-top design has been endorsed and recommended by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC), as it minimizes the signal absorption rate (SAR) by the human body. |

 |
| Validated wireless performance by Acer RF laboratory |
 |
| Acer has the advantage of being the only PC maker to have its
own RF (radio frequency) laboratory in Taiwan, where its wireless
products are made, imposing rigorous quality control standards
for manufacturing and testing. Stringent, comprehensive performance
tests are conducted - so you can rest assured that Acer SignalUp
technology is of the highest quality and reliability. |
|
|
| Assured Wi-FiŽ compatibility and WPA/CCX security |
 |
| With Acre SignalUp technology, compatibility is guaranteed via Wi-FiŽ
Alliance certification, thereby ensuring constant connectivity as you
move from one Wi-FiŽ zone to another. With strong security protocols,
such as Wi-FiŽ Alliance-verified WPA (Wi-FiŽ Protected Access) and
Cisco's CCX (Cisco Compatibility Extension), you can trust that your
critical information is kept confidential. |
